A brighter shade. Still your smile.

Whitening is a change in colour, not a change in who you are. We start by checking your teeth and understanding the result you have in mind, then explain whether supervised home whitening is suitable.

Understanding your options

Brighten with a clear plan.

Not every type of discolouration responds in the same way. A dental assessment helps separate surface staining from changes to the natural shade of a tooth.

Assess the starting shade

We look at tooth and gum health, existing restorations and the reason for discolouration. Whitening may not be appropriate until decay or gum problems are addressed.

Whiten at home

The practice offers a home whitening approach using trays and prescribed gel. Your dentist explains the product, how much to use and your individual wearing schedule.

Review the response

Results differ between people. Let us know about sensitivity or irritation so we can advise on the schedule and whether treatment should be paused.

Natural teeth only

Fillings, crowns, veneers and dentures do not whiten like natural teeth. Existing dental work may look a different shade afterwards, which should be considered in advance.

At the practice

Your care, step by step.

A safe whitening plan starts in the dental chair and continues with clear instructions at home.

Planning your visit

Find the shade that suits your smile.

Promotional imagery is illustrative. Your starting shade, teeth and treatment response affect the outcome.

  1. A suitability check

Your dentist examines your mouth and discusses expectations, sensitivity and any reasons to delay whitening.

  2. Prepare your trays

Where home whitening is suitable, impressions or records are used to prepare trays for your teeth.

  3. Use as directed

Follow the instructions for your prescribed gel and trays. Do not increase the amount or wearing time to try to speed up results.

  4. Review your shade

Discuss the response and any discomfort with the practice. Advice on future top-ups depends on your teeth and the product used.

Looking ahead

A plan that makes sense.

Whitening is one option for appearance; good oral health and a comfortable mouth come first.

Sensitivity and upkeep

Temporary tooth sensitivity or gum irritation can occur. Contact the practice for advice if this happens. Shade can change again over time, so ask about maintenance before using further gel.

Understanding the cost

Confirm the home whitening price, tray and gel inclusions with reception. Professional cleaning and replacement of mismatched restorations are separate considerations.
